eD2K has been forgotten

Post by Toshi » October 28th 2012 - 10:57 pm

Yeah, some years ago it was an the most popular way of file sharing. Afterwards it was DDL and now, torrenting has joined the game too.
But is eD2k really dead? Is it still being used? Is it worth giving it another shot? It's been years since I last used it.

Its still worth it m8. But you will have to consider that files won't be downed as fast as with the other two mentioned and the advise is to use a good and updated IP filter.

The good thing is that files are a lot longer available and shared compared to torrents which die fast and ddl hosts prune some "hot" files rapidly.

edk2 was one of the first P2P..I remember you had to pay for the pro (except I found a crack..lol).
DLL got big because of the money guys get when you DDL the stuff.
Torrents were just as big as DDL, I use to post there.Problem then was that a lot of virus were spread from what some guys posted.

All in all, each one has its advantage, if you need something, if one does not have it the other may. :wink2:

ed2k forgotten? never. it still has it's niches, and popular files are just as fast as torrents or ddl. you get on a movie everybody wants and can find 1000's of sources.
still most popular in some places. and an advantage to ed2k, is thesearch function built in.
if someone has it shared, you will find it.
torrents, well, unless it's publicly posted, forget it.

Don't do it! The only reason to go back to ed2k is if you like waiting for things or want to test your skill of patience. :wink2:

I don't seem to have to wait for the files I want with ed2k; any new file comes in within minutes, a file over 4gb takes at most, about 2hrs. Friend slots make all the difference when downloading

Torrents
Something is inherently wrong with having to pay to share files, especially if they want my credit-card info;
I hate part files, pop ups & I always have to fix the kids computers (they love torrent) - all kinds of Trojans :sillyrant:

(I rather keep my money & donate to sites like this) :-)
& Keep my credit-card info private
