I have just this moment tried to grab it for £14.99 and it asked for my windows 7 key. :-(

Looks like I'll be sticking with win7 for a bit longer.

Because I'm still unsure if the license gets tied to the motherboard, I dunno if £25 for a 'one time' use is necessary worth it.

Let's hope so

I'm gonna get the upgrade at some point anyway - just hope I don't get an activation surprise when I change some of the hardware in my rig :lol1:

I might try and buy the more expensive version and install it tonight. Although, I did read an article that the number of copies sold has been disappointing, so they might discount it further with xmas around the corner. :hmm:

Nah, upon thinking about I doubt it will get discounted further.

A. It's already a promotional offer at current price - which ends on the 31 Jan
B. Sales might pickup with folk buying new PC's during the xmas period

I got to be honest with you, some test have come back saying most stuff work faster on win7 than Win8!
Sure it starts up faster and shuts down faster, but that and a few apps work a little faster.
If you have to have the newest and you have a touch monitor-phone-tablet, than this is for you.
Why not try it it VMwares first, to see if you like it, or install on a different partition or hard drive. :jrc:

Thanks for the details doc - but to be honest, I don't care about speed all that much.
I do like how they've improved the UI in a lot of areas though (better fonts, clearer menus, etc)

But my main reason for wanting to upgrade is... that I think the upgrade offer is a sweet deal (especially coming from a pirated win 7)
