only if you didnt buy it on line yet

Go to https://www.windowsupgradeoffer.com
Windows 7 PC purchase information

Date of purchase *Make up any date within last 2 months.

Name of retailer * Just say whatever retailer.

PC Brand *Other

PC Model * Carbide 500r

That is all it requires, no receipt verification is needed. Anyone can upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for £14.99. It gives you a promo code, and you download and install from there.

i copied this text from another forum, but me just done this and its true paid £14.99 and dowloading now :jrc:

I just don't get it.
Y pay even £14.99 went U can get it for £00.00?
Once you get the codes from MS, (its not like the old days when the keys were cracked by PC brand)
they will be good as long you don't replace your motherboard...even if you pay for it.
I was one of the lucky few that used 2007 office keys and called and got my keys for office 2010.
Never had a problem with it and it has been activated since then.
I guess I'm the only one here, hurt from the economy being so bad. :embarrased:

First patch Tuesday for Windows 8 tomorrow and I hope they will address some of the major glitches. Not that it will be affecting me any more because me found workarounds for the most annoying ones.

Normally, i would agree with you (I like free stuff  )... but being able to get a fully legit update to a new OS for such a low price is hard to resist.

I'm definitely gonna do the paid update pretty soon

Ok, I wanted to play so I updated a WinXP SP3 to win8.
I wanted to see if my portables and files would remain.
:lol1: :lol1: It took 2 hrs to update, see the photo to see why.
The new win8 runs just as fast if not faster than winXP.
PS: the xp was a pirated mod.

Notice its activated

Update: Even though it starts up fast and shuts down fast, I changed my mind and say stay with XP for slower PC's. :wink2:

with 15 updates already, you still need Tuneup Utilities to fix and make it run the best.
