If your going to use Windows 8

If you want a legal disk and serial no. now is the time to get it before the price goes up.
This is a local store, but I'm sure there are stores that offer this by you or on the net.

On a side note (but kinda related), I was pretty disappointed with the surface tablet/laptop announcement a while back...

They look like a really nice piece of kit (& should work well with windows 8)... but they're way too expensive IMO : 500€ for the rt version... & that's without the fancy keyboard/cover thingy :-(

If you used win7 as your OS and they ran there, it will probable run on win8.
I had a PC with win7 and updated it to Win8. Install the free start menu, and the only differences that you will see between 7 and 8 is..
8 starts up like a bullet, about 10 to 14 sec. from cold start to desktop.
side right bar [hover right side] and you get search-share-start-devices-settings.
So far most of the portables that I use on my XP Pc do work on win8
example VLC player, FSC Capture, nero, VSO ConvertX, winrar.
only portable I could not use was DivX plus, and that's because how they were made portable.

Microsoft is opening 75 stores here in the US and Canada in conjunction with win8.

I'm old and afraid of change, so I'll be sticking with Win7. At least it looks like Windows.
